Disciples in Prayer
Disciples in Prayer guides small study and prayer groups
in their reflection on the Lectionary readings throughout
the church year. The result of collaboration between Oregon
Catholic Press, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB)
Secretariat for Evangelization, and the U.S. Commission on
Catholic Evangelization, Disciples in Prayer is designed to
help each believer become a more active disciple of Jesus
Christ.
Disciples in Prayer contains synopses of the Sunday
readings, responsorial psalm texts, musical selections and
suggestions, and study group questions based on three
themes: personal spiritual growth, community growth and
outreach into and beyond the community.
Disciples in Prayer includes a participant book at $3.95
and a CD for $15.00.

This book focuses on seven
elements of virtue (kindness, humor, understanding, respect,
courage, clear-sightedness, and silence). Each element is
addressed in its own chapter, and the author uses stories,
scriptures and powerful quotes to underscore the importance
of each element. Each chapter also contains reflection
questions and a prayer.
Little Rock Scripture Study

The program requires
few materials thereby keeping costs to a minimum. The
average cost is $7.50 per participant for the Study Set (a
study guide and a commentary). The commentary is a source of
solid Catholic scholarship which provides background and a
deeper understanding of Scripture.
Video- and audio-tapes
may be purchased for weekly wrap-up lectures to each study.
These lectures average $4.40 for audio and $9.90 for video
lectures per week.
Studies vary in length, and are based
on either a book of the Bible or a theme (i.e., the Passion
and Resurrection Narratives of Jesus, Women of the Old
Testament, etc.). Most consist of an introductory meeting
followed by six to twelve weekly lessons. New studies are
continually being developed, and most older studies have
been updated.
