In honor of the Feast of St. Blaise (February 3rd) we will bless throats after each Mass at both St. Bernard and St. Matthew. Through this blessing we pray for the intercession of St. Blaise to protect us from illnesses of the throat and all other illnesses. We pray that both our spiritual and physical bodies will be made pure and healthy so that we may better serve our God in life and love.

The Soup Kitchen Ministry is looking for one person to join a Friday team. The team works the 3rd Friday of each month from 4:45-6:00pm at Cornerstone Soup Kitchen around the corner from St. Bernard Church. Parishioners from either Church are welcome to join. Jobs include set-up, serving the meal, washing tables, sweeping and mopping. If you would like to join the team or have questions, contact Becky Maresh at bmaresh@comcast.net or 860-875-4082. Lutz Museum Program at St. Bernard Preschool February 1st at 10:00am In honor of Catholic Schools week (January 28—February 3), St. Bernard Preschool has some special events planned for their preschoolers. The preschool is inviting families, of either parish with children under 5, to join them for one of these events - a presentation by the Lutz Museum called Coats of All Kinds. In this presentation the children will learn what animals do to stay warm. They will explore the different coats animals wear and see first hand the differences between them. Donations for our Trip to Haiti

We are looking for donations of T-Shirts (new and gently used), baseball caps, toiletries (toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, etc.), medical supplies (band aids, children's ibuprofen and vitamins, antibiotic ointment, etc.), hair supplies (ribbons, elastics, etc.), and so on to take with us to Haiti on our upcoming trip (we leave January 31st). Items can be dropped off in the Haiti bin at the St. Matthew Church Hall through Sunday, January 28th. Call Sue @ 860-371-1111 with any questions.

Dear Parish family, Over the holidays I went to see my aunt in a nearby nursing home.  I hadn’t seen her for quite some time so we had a very nice reunion.  In the conversation, she told me I looked the same except my hair was whiter and I had put on a few pounds!  My aunt never holds any punches!  Her honesty, however, was a clear reminder that time marches on.  A seasonal landmark of that reality occurs every year at this time as we say farewell to the previous year and welcome a brand-new year.  Part of moving on always involves rem...
