Mass Intention Guidelines

Posted on January 15, 2019 in: General News

The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for a loved one – living or deceased – is a beautiful and wonderful part of our Catholic tradition.  Due to the increased number of Mass requests and the desire to allow as many parishioners and friends as possible to schedule Masses, the following guidelines will apply.

1.  On July 1st of every year, the Mass book for the following calendar year will be open for Mass requests. The Mass book for calendar year 2020 will open Monday, July 1, 2019.

2.  There will be a limit of 6 Masses per household – 3 special individual intentions on a weekend plus 3 on a weekday.  You may also schedule additional Masses on the “Multiple Mass Intention Day” which is outlined below.

3.  St. Bernard and St. Matthew will designate one day a week each as a “Multiple Mass Intention Day” for up to a total of 5 Mass intentions.  These intentions will be listed in the bulletin and announced at Mass.  The “Multiple Mass Intention Day” for St. Bernard is the 10:00am Sunday Mass and for St. Matthew the 10:30am Sunday Mass.
